HOLLYWOOD LIES (Lie #3… “Hollywood is Looking for Talent”)

HOLLYWOOD IS LOOKING FOR TALENT
Yuk-Yuk-Yuk.
(“Hollywood is not looking for talent… But it is looking for grosses, revenues, profits, distributions, dividends and marketable names”)
If you truly believe Hollywood is looking for talent then below are the addresses for the six Major Studios (aka: Distributors) who each employ 1,000-2,000 and are in constant development, production and distribution of new ideas and projects and perform this simple exercise.
With the addresses, whenever next in Los Angeles, have an enlightening time by spending $60-$80 with Uber and one-by-one go to each studio, with your registered script in hand, stop at each Studio’s front gate, get out of the Uber Corolla and say hello to the gate guard. Then with a touch of authority announce “Hi, I heard Paramount (pick any studio) is looking for talent and great scripts… Well here I am… Who do I see…”
I’d start in Culver City at Sony (closest studio to the LA airport), then go to West LA and 20th Century (Uber $5), then to Hollywood and Paramount Studios (Uber $12), then to the valley with first stop at Universal (Uber $22), then Warners (Uber $7) with a final destination of Disney (Uber $12).
I’m actually serious and while you’re at it bring your iPhone6 (no Samsung hot phone jokes here), with a decent microphone and have your buddy tape each of your adventures with each gate guard at Sony, Paramount, Warner, 20th, etc., who all claim “We’re looking for Talent”.
Just keep announcing “Hello, I’m Talent. Who do I meet with?”
You’ll have fun.
Then post your adventure on YouTube, use some social media and have it go viral… who knows what could happen?
Plus (stranger things happen) if you get 1-2 million views you have a fair chance of having Amazon Studios, Maker Studios or Facebook call and give you an offer.

If Hollywood is not looking for talent… So what is Hollywood looking for?
HOLLYWOOD IS LOOKING FOR MONEY
Hollywood needs talent (yuk). Hollywood is looking for talent (yuk-yuk). Hollywood needs great writers (yuk-yuk-yuk). Hollywood is looking for (I’m out of yuks).
So again what is Hollywood looking for?
Answer is simple. Hollywood is looking for money, money & more money. And there is nothing wrong with that because Hollywood is a business, with employees, stock holders and investors.
But it is just not politically correct (yes, that is the era we are in) to announce “We need money” so they keep saying “we need talent” but what they really mean is “we need bankable names”.
BANKABLE NAMES ARE LIKE MONEY
Hollywood does need and absolutely wants Bankable Names (hopefully “you”) to convert (aka: “Monetize”) into production dollars and unless your parents are close to being billionaires (Pritzkers, Ellisons, etc.) then only way to become a bankable name is by starting at the bottom with a Micro-Budget or Low-Budget feature film, with a work ethic and, of course, talent and producing, writing or directing movies that make profits…
Here’s a roadmap used by excellent filmmakers like Spike Lee, or Quentin Tarantino, or Jason Blum or Chris Nolan or even Steven Spielberg…
And the roadmap is…
How do you get $200 Million from a studio to make a movie? Simple. You make a $20 Million movie that makes a lot of money.
How do you get $20 Million from a studio to make a movie? Simple. You make a $2 Million movie that makes a lot of money.
How do you get $2 Million from a studio to make a movie? Simple. You make a $200,000 movie that makes a lot of money.
How do you get $200,000 to make a movie. Simple. You make a $20,000 movie…
How do you get $20,000 to make a movie. Simple. You make a $2,000 movie…
I believe you have the point… and if you desire to start at the bottom and Produce, Write or Direct a $2,000, $20,000, $200,000 or $2 Million feature film then I look forward to giving you the information needed in any of my super affordable 16-Hour (Live 2-Day, DVD or Streaming) Film School programs.
But remember, you have to supply the talent and work ethic for I can’t teach either.
Happy Filmmaking,
